The experience
LyaHult is a community of self-maintained bookable cabins. It is a visionary concept for the future of rural tourism, intended to be placed around Skåneleden – a system of more than 1000km of hiking trails in the south of Sweden.
With the goal of helping people to reconnect with nature, LyaHult offers a seamless experience where guests are encouraged to hike in order to spend a night in our cabins. Knowing where to stay, and how to reach it, will invite more people to enjoy the many benefits of nature.
Inspired by the Swedish mentality of caring for the community, we want to design an experience that encourages visitors to foster this spirit, and allows the cabin to be better self-managed. The hostless cabins offer a safe space to shelter from the elements and behave as a threshold between community and nature, as they would have an open public space at the heart of the campsite.
The collaboration
LyaHult concept was created as part of Beyond the Future, an innovative ideation project organized by Tourism in Skåne, with Stiftelsen Skånska Landskap support. The brief was to rethink the future of lodging in nature around the Skåneleden trails. This framework gave us the opportunity to imagine a holistic experience and to start validating its business potential with stakeholders in the sector from the beginning.
